Welcome!

We are so excited about our new blog that has been created in an effort to better serve YOU!  Allow us to share our vision for this site.  It has been a constant goal to keep MDCC members updated and a part of every daily detail.  We have expanded in the past through our website, e-mail, and eventually Twitter and Facebook accounts.  It is time to expand again!  There has been so much information thrown at you and we want to have a site where you can simply see the highlights.  After events, when you finally get a chance to sit down and relax again, you can visit http://www.macgregordowns.blogspot.com/ as we take a breather with you and reminisce on all of the exciting activity.  We guarantee a faster sneak peak into the pictures and events that you continue to make memorable.

Advanced Jr. Camp

There was a short break from the heat of a typical North Carolina July, but as we're certain our young golfers would say, it didn't stay away any too long as increasingly high temperatures have returned this week.  Still, 18 young golfers ignored the discomfort, grabbed their clubs, and joined our pros on the course.  Instruction and demonstration focused a great deal on swing mechanics as the young men learned what it takes to be an "accomplished player".  It was a scorcher, but not to worry, they threw in a few breaks as the bridge provided a moment to relax (seen on the left) not far from the green.

Honoring our Bobby

The 20th Annual Prevent Blindness Tennis Classic Patron Party
honoring Bobby Heald
hosted at MacGregor Downs Country Club
The story goes...
Starting at the age of 9 as a junior player, our very own Bobby Heald began a lifetime of success and fulfilled dreams.  For his many accomplishments, Bobby was inducted into the USC Athletic Hall of Fame.  In 2002, Bobby was named to the prestigious ACC 50th Anniversary Men's Tennis Team, and in 2003 received the NC USPTA Professional of the Year award.  In January 2008 Bobby was inducted into the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame. The list goes on...
On August 4 from 6-9pm the evening will be filled with cocktails, dinner, an exhibition match, a raffle full of great prizes, live entertainment, and the guest of honor, our Director of Tennis, Bobby Heald.  Don't miss out on the fantastic opportunity to honor such a fantastic story.

Tennis Extravaganza

Our doughnuts may have filled your children with sugar in the morning, but we made sure to use up all of that extra energy before we gave them back.  Through the promised games, drills, and coaching, this was a day centered around the young tennis player.  They say "leave it all on the court", but on July 7 the athletes didn't have to as they snuck away with some extra pride and prizes.

4th of July Festivities

The sunshine welcomed a day at the pool.  Children organized themselves into a single file line in anxious anticipation of the returning glitter tattoos as we all enjoyed the acoustic sounds of live music.  As the day progressed we moved from a buffet at noon to a buffet at night in the clubhouse.  While rain threatened to dampen our night, it in no way dampened our 4th of July as we celebrated together once again.  Thank you for sharing such a wonderful holiday with us!
